BASS – Supporting Graduate Education in Biostatistics

A goal of BASS is to raise revenues to support graduate fellowships in biostatistics. Toward this goal, BASS revenues have enabled several Ph.D. students to complete their degree from the Department of Biostatistics, School of Medicine, Medical College of Virginia Campus, Virginia Commonwealth University, from which Dr. Peace holds the PhD, and several MPH and DrPH in biostatistics students to complete their degree at the Jiann-Ping Hsu College of Public Health, Georgia Southern University, from which Dr. Peace holds the BS in Chemistry.

In addition, financial grants are awarded to students pursuing the Doctorate in Biostatistics to attend annual BASS meetings. Each year $1,500 grants are awarded to as many as four students. These expenses to include travel, hotel, food, and BASS registration fees. Applications for the grants are reviewed by the BASS Scholarship Committee.
